She earned her M.D. from the University of Michigan. During medical school, Dr. Bellomo conducted cardiovascular research through the NIH Short-Term Biomedical Research Training Program and the Sarnoff Cardiovascular Research Fellowship.


Dr. Bellomo was awarded the prestigious NIH F32 Ruth L. Kirschstein Postdoctoral Fellowship to investigate the genetic epidemiology of vascular disease. Her current work focuses on leveraging large-scale genetic datasets to refine the carotid artery disease phenotype, develop polygenic risk scores, and conduct multi-trait analyses to uncover factors that contribute to stroke risk.
