David V. Feliciano, MD, FACS, MAMSE

Clinical Professor of Surgery, University of Maryland Medical Center, Attending Surgeon at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center

David V. Feliciano, MD, FACS, MAMSE (1944-2024) was a clinical professor of surgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and an attending Surgeon at Shock Trauma Center/Department of Surgery, University of Maryland Medical Center.


Dr. Feliciano was a world-renowned trauma surgeon and a surgical historian. He received his medical degree in 1970 from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. He completed his general surgery training at the Mayo Clinic, trauma training at Wayne State University, and vascular surgery training at Baylor College of Medicine, where he studied under Dr. Michael DeBakey.


From 1991 to 2011, he served as Professor of Surgery at Emory University and Surgeon-in-Chief at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. He later worked as a Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of Maryland and as an attending surgeon at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center.
