Dr. Olga Maihutiak, COO of the Global Medical Knowledge Alliance (GMKA); Dr. Douglas Davis, MD, PhD, Assistant Professor of Radiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin and GMKA Board Member; and Oystein Refseth, CEO and Founder of Excitus.
Global Medical Knowledge Alliance (GMKA) Chief Operating Officer Dr. Olga Maihutiak participated in The Norwegian Health Summit in Minneapolis, part of the broader USA–Norway Business Summit & Trade Delegation. The event brought together leading voices from Norway and the United States to explore new pathways for collaboration in healthcare innovation and technology.
Held on October 6–9, 2025, and organized by Norway Health Tech, Team Norway, and key U.S. partners, the summit featured dedicated sessions on HealthTech, alongside discussions on defense and advanced industries.
A highlight of the event was His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon’s address at Norway House, where he emphasized that delivering healthcare in challenging environments is not merely valuable but “a prerequisite for success.” His remarks reflected the summit’s central message — that progress in global health depends on international cooperation, shared innovation, and trust.
GMKA’s mission centers on building partnerships in the United States to advance healthcare in Ukraine through medical education, health system improvement, and technology-driven care. Participation in this summit offered a valuable opportunity to strengthen collaborations, exchange expertise with global leaders, and showcase GMKA’s impact in Ukraine, including the implementation of innovative HealthTech solutions such as the HealUA app.
Healthcare-focused discussions featured leaders from Mayo Clinic, the Norwegian Cancer Society, and many other forward-thinking organizations committed to improving patient outcomes and advancing medical technology. This exchange of ideas and expertise further reinforced the transatlantic bridge between Norway and the U.S., while creating new opportunities for partnerships, advocacy, and learning. It also allowed participants to explore the evolving role of AI and digital innovation in global health.
“The summit reinforced that advancing global health requires collective action and mutual trust. GMKA exemplifies these principles by bringing expertise and fostering international collaboration through its work in Ukraine,” said Dr. Maihutiak.
“GMKA’s participation in the USA–Norway Business Forum in Minneapolis provided an opportunity to strengthen transatlantic collaboration in healthcare innovation and education. The forum facilitated connections with Norwegian and American leaders in medicine, technology, and philanthropy, opening potential avenues for joint projects and funding partnerships. Through these discussions, GMKA showcased its work advancing global medical education and explored opportunities to apply Nordic expertise in quality, safety, and health system improvement to its initiatives in Ukraine and beyond.”
