GMKA and the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Sign Memorandum of Understanding to Advance Adaptive Sports and Rehabilitation Medicine
The Global Medical Knowledge Alliance (GMKA), on behalf of the Alliance for Medical Exchange and Development (UA-MED), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine. This agreement unites efforts to implement modern approaches in sports, physical, and rehabilitation medicine; expand adaptive sports programs; train and support specialists; and assist in the rehabilitation of athletes and individuals affected by the war.
“This partnership is about people. It will help us build a system where sports, medicine, and rehabilitation work hand in hand toward one goal — restoring, supporting, and empowering Ukrainians affected by the war. We are grateful to our international partners for their willingness to share their experience and knowledge, which will make Ukraine stronger,” said Matvii Bidnyi, Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine.
“This Memorandum lays the foundation for systemic change — from sharing expertise and technology to fostering a culture of inclusion and support, and integrating medical, sports, and social sectors toward a common goal: restoring health and enabling every individual’s full participation in society,” said Dr. Kateryna Potapova, MD, MHA, neurologist and Development Director at the Global Medical Knowledge Alliance.
Under this partnership, GMKA, UA-Med, and the Ministry will:
- Expand adaptive sports and rehabilitation programs for people with disabilities and those affected by the war;
- Provide training and continuing education for professionals;
- Share expertise, research findings, and medical and scientific innovations;
- Coordinate humanitarian and medical initiatives for vulnerable populations;
- Jointly address challenges in healthcare, adaptive sports, and social integration;
- Improve the delivery of medical, wellness, and rehabilitation services.
The signing of this Memorandum marks an important step in supporting individuals affected by the war and advancing sports, physical, and rehabilitation medicine in Ukraine. It aligns with GMKA’s mission to improve the quality of healthcare in Ukraine by ensuring broad access to evidence-based medical knowledge.
“In the crucible of war, this partnership transcends formalities. It is a mission of national healing, a commitment to empower the next generation, a tribute to the courage of the veterans and heroes who have sacrificed so much, and a bold fusion of sport, medicine, and resilience to rebuild a stronger Ukraine,” said Dr. Douglas Davis, MD, PhD, Assistant Professor of Radiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Organizer and Member of the Leadership Team at UA-MED, and a member of the GMKA’s Board of Directors.
