Global Medical Knowledge Alliance and the Ukrainian-Swiss Project “Medical Education Development” Sign a Memorandum of Cooperation
Global Medical Knowledge Alliance (GMKA) and the Ukrainian-Swiss Project “Medical Education Development” have signed a memorandum of cooperation, marking a new phase in their partnership to strengthen medical education and healthcare quality in Ukraine. The agreement establishes a framework for collaborative efforts to strengthen the professional development of Ukrainian healthcare professionals, advance evidence-based medical practices, and implement modern educational approaches nationwide.
“Our organizations share common values and priorities. Together, we can more effectively support Ukrainian healthcare professionals in gaining up-to-date knowledge and skills, advancing evidence-based medicine, and making healthcare more accessible and of higher quality for patients,” said Dr. Inesa Huivaniuk, Executive Director of GMKA Ukraine and oncologic surgeon at the Kyiv Regional Oncology Center.
The Ukrainian-Swiss Project 'Medical Education Development' is implemented by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute, and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. The initiative supports the systematic development of qualified and motivated healthcare professionals — particularly in primary care and health sector management.
Global Medical Knowledge Alliance (GMKA) creates, disseminates, and promotes evidence-based medical knowledge, encouraging healthcare professionals to pursue continuous professional and personal growth to improve the quality of medical care in Ukraine.
United by shared goals and values, the partners will collaborate to:
- Support healthcare reform and system development in Ukraine;
- Contribute to policy design and advocate for gender equity and women’s leadership in medicine;
- Promote the study and use of medical English to enhance professional qualifications;
- Improve healthcare quality through educational initiatives;
- Organize educational events to share evidence-based medical information;
- Participate in policy development and advocacy in medical education and primary care.
“The forum ‘Women in Medicine: The Voice of Change’ initiated an important conversation about equity and professional opportunities for women in medicine. We support this initiative because we approach all our programs through the lens of gender equality, and our project includes a dedicated component in this area. The partnership with GMKA brings together these and other efforts, which we believe are helping the medical community grow and evolve,” said Tetiana Chernysh, Head of the Project Office of the Swiss–Ukrainian Project “Medical Education Development.”
